Wet Dragonfly
The agency got a request for water droplets hitting a flying insect, definitely not an easy assignment. Waiting for a rainy day was out of the question since I needed sunlight and an 800 ISO sensitivity to get the 1/2000 sec exposure time that was necessary to freeze the water droplets. Even then, I could have used a strobe light.
We went to a nearby wetland to find a big, docile insect like this meadowhawk. I'd set-up the shot and Christiane would gently spray it. They obviously liked getting a shower on this hot day since many of them kept returning to the same leaf.
