Tile Roof

After the Serbs had their shot at home decorating, 68% of of Dubrovnik's 824 houses needed serious roof repair. Unfortunately the Kupari quarry, whose tiles gave the city's its distinctive look, had long since run out of material. Furthermore, the tiles had to be individually molded on a human thigh and there was not enough time to produce 600,000 of them. All of the roofs are thus being upgraded with tiles from the south of France and Slovenia's Krapina valley which are redder in color. This is one of a few houses with most of it's original tiles still intact.
