Dubrovnik from the mountain
This shot is very similar to another image from two years ago as it was also taken from a moving bus. The main difference is that I was able to open a window this time. Coupled with a better camera, this resulted in significant improvements in image quality.
A couple of days later, an "official" excursion took us to a much better vantage point where I was able to use a tripod. Unfortunately, the resulting images were not satisfactory because it was a hazy day and the fact that I didn't realize that my camera was set at 800 ISO instead of 100, a setting more appropriate for low-light photography. The requirement to use a menu to check on our ISO setting is the biggest user interface mistake in the latest generation of Canon DSLR.
I'm finally coming home today, including an 8.5 hrs flight from Frankfurt to Toronto. This will be the longuest continuous period that I will ever have spent in a plane. Flying over Montreal and knowing that I still have 75 min to go in the wrong direction will not be pleasant.
