Canon Rebel XT

It's dead Jim!

Barring a swim in sea-water or molten lava, a fall from a fully extended tripod is probably the least survivable accident that can befall a consumer DSLR. I took my crippled XT to the LL Lozeau camera hospital where a rapid examination identified a broken pop-up flash, a bent pin and a busted shutter. With three repairs and who knows what else hidden inside, I had to accept the fact that, through my own impatience and stupidity, my 15 month old Canon Rebel XT was now officially dead.

At least the lens came out of it intact but, since it is "only" an EF-S, I thought it would be more reasonable to wait a while before making the great leap to a full sensor 5D. Instead, I bought a Rebel XTi body which does have the significant advantage of correcting the few little things that I did not like about the XT. Most notably, I can now see the ISO setting directly on its enlarged LCD screen.

Gotta take those little blessings wherever they lay but now I have to find something imaginative to do with the dead body.
