stock photo Venus Transit

Venus Transit

This morning we used our binoculars to project an image of the Sun during a very rare astronomical event, the passage of Venus between the Earth and the Sun. It's the black dot to the right of the Sun's projection. The transit of Venus has happened only six times since the invention of the telescope: 1631, 1639, 1761, 1769, 1874 and 1882. We'll get one more chance in 2012 after which time we'll have to wait until 2117.

I have decided to submit this shot as my Theme Thursday entry since it looks so much like the shadow of a machine.
