Heathrow in the afternoon
Of all the major airports, Heathrow is the one that feels the most like an international crossroad. Since its international terminal doesn't assign gates until right before boarding, everyone has to spend some time sitting in a couple of very large rooms that are great for people watching. In moments of extreme boredom, I would play a game and see how long it would take for somebody to look up at one of the many monitors. Then I would try to find a more nervous fellow that would beat that time.
On the other hand, the domestic terminal is just nasty. I'd love to see the kind of interior decorator who would decide on lime green and grey as a color palette. Having the impression that you're lying inside a whale's digestive tract doesn't help either.
