Don't be boring

After more than 40 months and 1279 entries, I finally found an appropriate artistic statement to describe what I had been trying to accomplish here at Digital Apoptosis...other than building something that will allow me to look back at my life once I'm stuck in a retirement home.

Don't be boring.

It means posting something new every morning.

It means getting out of my neighborhood, city or country as often as I can.

It means, and that's the hardest part, trying to shoot different subjects using different styles.

Of course, any of the above three conditions can be overcome with a high enough photographic talent. Some of my favorite photoblogs have been shooting essentially the same thing for three years and I still visit them every day.

Once you hit middle age, it's so easy to just stay at home and watch tv, read a book or surf the web. I find that the need to feed the photoblog has been an excellent incentive to go out and see things.

My brother recently noticed that the pictures from my last trip to El Salvador included many more portraits than usual. That's me trying to be less boring.

From now on, every time I check on my own photoblog I'll see those three little word on the top-right corner. Hopefully they will motivate me to make it more interesting for you as well.
