Above the storm
I knew that I was taking a chance by flying into Bozeman at the end of the day and it came back to bite me in the ass. My connecting flight in Minneapolis boarded 15 min late and, just as the ground crew was setting up the last luggage crate, lightning started to fall around the airport and everything had to stop.
Regulations state that ground operations cannot restart until 10 min after the last lightning strike...that storm lasted almost two hours and I got to Montana at 1h30 AM. Add on two hours of jet-lag and you can guess how tired I was.
As the plane was climbing above the receding storm, I took continuous 2 seconds exposures to capture the lightning from above. The low image quality comes from the fact that there was a lot of turbulence and that I had set the sensitivity at maximum.
